Pickleball Leagues & Games in Cleveland, Ohio
Invented in 1965, pickleball is a fun, social, and accessible game that combines elements of other paddle sports including tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. The rules are simple and straightforward enough for beginners to get in on the action while experienced players can also enjoy fast-paced competition. A big part of pickleball's appeal is the simplicity of the game. Teams compete on a court using solid paddles made of wood or composite materials, hitting a perforated polymer ball over a net that stretches across the middle of the court. If you've played other racquet sports before, you'll notice some similarities along with some slight modifications. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or simply looking for a fun way to exercise, the Fieldhouse offers instruction classes, open play times, and both social and competitive pickleball leagues. Pickleball is a great way to meet new friends, enjoy some quality exercise, and most importantly — have tons of fun!
Pickleball Rules & General Gameplay
A round of pickleball begins when one team hits their serve underhand, diagonally across the court. Players will notice two sidelines, two baselines at the ends of the court, a center line, and two non-volley zones near the net that are referred to as the "kitchen". A serve must bounce on each side of the net before teams can hit the ball in the air without bouncing. The back-and-forth continues until one of the teams either hits the ball out of bounds, into the net, or allows the ball to bounce twice on their side of the court. A team earns one point each time the other team fails to return the ball. Traditionally, pickleball scoring is played until 11 points are reached. However, the winning team must win by at least two points. Our official pickleball league rules can be viewed by clicking the link below.
